Fingers in the Dike?

One of the key criticisms of US/NATO efforts in Afghanistan is that this is just one failing state, and terrorists can go elsewhere.  Namely Somalia.  Well, that may or may not change.  The US is backing, not subtly but not too aggressively, an effort by Somalis to take back their major city--Mogadishu.  So far, it looks like training, coordination, intel, but special ops would not be a surprise either.

Somalia makes Afghanistan look like a paragon of progress.   The article suggests that things will be different this time.  It sounds like this effort is well designed and supported, so we can hope for improvement.  I would not put too much money on that.
